September 26th, 2011

Haven't worked on much, but did get a good line for a song thanks to mom. Not going to spoil thew surprise yet. I have been trying to work on a song called "Death of an Empire".

It's coming along great now actually. I have the basic tune down and I'm working on getting the rest ironed out. I have lyrics. This is going to be a great tune I think. Keep your eyes peeled.

September 24th 2011

Haven't been working on the album as much as of late, but hopefully that will change when I find some inspiration.
Not sure on the status of the collaboration, haven't heard anything lately. It might not happen. If it does, great. If it doesn't I tried. The song is still one of my favorites I've ever done.

I am working on making a chiptune-like song for the album that is yet to be named. I wanted to do it on Pandora's Box but I had not the time or resources to do it. Things get easier when you have the right tools.

I haven't been feeling the greatest lately. Might be sick. I want to write a bit again, but I just don't have the oomf.

September 17th 2011

Wrote lyrics for a new song which has yet to be named. The working title is "Punkette", as in a punk who is female. Yeah, it's a terrible name... yeah, I'll re-name it. Other than that, I have a collaboration in the process with the new song "Let 'Em Go" which I am very excited about. The wheels are in motion peeps. I am trying to get the mixes right for the tracks I have done. For some reason, this album is incredibly hard to mix. Not sure why...

The album is very different from what I have done before. I like to let the music make itself. If I try something out and it sounds good I'll go with it. I had asked the question in earlier times "Acoustic vs. Electric" and the response was overwhelmingly towards acoustic music- which I have to admit is my favorite to play. The response towards synths and the like was a bit back and forth, but I believe that the general consensus was that a little synth mixed in with acoustic natural sounds was a sound that would work.

So far, the album has been mostly a mixture of either acoustic tracks that are very bare, or synth tracks that would make good for dance floors.

The main thing I can say about this album though is that it is in one word, "warm". Sort of like an analogue kind of warm. If you don't know what I'm getting at, it's alright... I don't know what I'm on about half the time either.

The record has a very organic nature and feel to it. Sort of like looking out a window on a fall day and feeling the emotions in the wind and the trees. When I first started thinking about a fourth album I told my girlfriend that I wanted it to sound like "a robot in a rain forest", aka Acoustic+Warm Synths. That's basically the mantra of the album so far.

Edited Mel vox on Undefeatable very early... couldn't
sleep. Later on I fixed latency problems in Audacity. I
wrote and finished a song called "Let 'Em Go" which I am
hoping will have a special guest not yet seen on one of the
albums. I have very high regard for this tune. I also re-did
the vox and mastering on Poor Yorick (again).  Redid vox
and Mastering on Undefeatable.

Drank alot and resang Butterfly Wings, made lyrics to Undefeatable (originally called Late Drive) and sang it, re-mastered and resang Poor Yorick. Melody did vox for Undefeatable. Recorded early vox for Talking To Crows after 11 PM. Found a nice vox spot... H 12.5 M 6 L-7. Added the main condenser vox to In My Mind.

Made "Late Drive" and finished up "Talking To Crows". Found out I was happy with Poor Yorick. Decided not to call the album "Poor Yorick". I like Talking With Crows as the name, but I have a feeling that that will ultimately change.

Bobbi Yates lent her vocals to the new track "On Butterfly Wings". She sings during the chorus.
